The default, and the right default. If you own one suit, it’s single-breasted, and there’s no situation it’s wrong for.
Which means the only things that matter are the ones nobody asks about: how many buttons, where the waist sits, and how the lapel is cut. Get those three right and the suit works in every room you take it into. We’ve been getting them right in Bangkok since 1972.
Come and see the cloth in person, or drop us a message with any questions.
What you choose
- Buttons: two is the standard and the safest. Three-roll-two is for people who know why they want it. One button is for dinner jackets and for men who are certain.
- Lapel: notch is standard; peak on a single-breasted jacket is a deliberate, sharper choice, and we like it when it suits the wearer.
- Waist: where the button sits sets your proportions more than any other single decision. We look at your actual torso, not a size chart.
- Vents: side vents, single vent, or none. Side vents for most people.
- Pieces: two or three. A waistcoat changes what the suit is for.
The cloth and how it’s built
Cloth starts at good wool blends and runs up through pure wool, fine wool and wool-cashmere blends. Linen for the heat. Nothing we make is pure synthetic. Most clients choose half-canvassed construction; whichever you choose is agreed with you and determines the price of your suit.
If you’d like to understand the options, read our guide to fabrics and construction.
How long it takes
Allow five or six days and time for two fittings.
