A shirt is the garment you wear most and the one that likely fits worst off the rack. Sleeve length, collar height, the drop from shoulder to chest – no two people really share them, and no standard sizing accounts for it. This is where made to measure earns its keep, and it’s the best way to find out whether a tailor is any good before you commission a suit.
We’ve been making shirts in Bangkok since 1972, and every shirt is drafted from your own pattern, which we keep – so the second one is a message rather than an appointment.
Come and see our shirting fabrics in person, or ask us any questions beforehand.
The cloth
We have a wide selection of shirting fabrics, including fine cotton, linen, and cotton-linen blends. You can feel every shirting fabric before you confirm. Nothing is ever confirmed from a photograph.
What you choose
- Collar: spread, semi-spread, cutaway, Mandarin, etc. See our collar and cuff guide.
- Cuff: single, double, rounded, mitred, with or without a working gauntlet button.
- Placket: standard, French front, or covered.
- Fit: slim from close to full. We’ll tell you honestly which one suits your build.
- Detail: contrast inside the collar and cuff, mother-of-pearl or wood buttons, initials in a thread colour of your choosing.
Both arms, measured separately
Most people aren’t symmetrical – one shoulder sits lower, one arm runs longer – and a ready-made shirt pretends otherwise, which is why you spend the day adjusting it. We measure both sides and cut both sides differently. It costs nothing extra and it’s the single most noticeable difference between a tailored shirt and a bought one.
How long it takes
Allow three or four days for a first shirt, including a fitting. On a short stay in Bangkok, message us before you land and we’ll prepare for your consultation. Reorders ship to you from your pattern on file.
