The Bespoke Process

Before you arrive

Message us. Tell us what the garment is for, when you need it, and how long you’re in Bangkok. We’ll tell you honestly whether the timeline works. Appointments are highly recommended – a proper consultation takes a little under an hour, and we’d rather give you the attention that deserve than squeeze you in between two appointments.

The consultation

Unless you already know exactly what you want, we start by talking – what your suit will be for, what you already own, how you dress, what you’ve had made before and what was wrong with it. This is the part that decides whether the suit works, and the part most people are surprised to be asked about.

The cloth and the construction

You handle the cloth in person, in daylight where we can. We’ll advise, and we’ll disagree with you if we think you’re wrong – that’s what you’re paying for. We’ll also talk through construction – half-canvassed, fully-canvassed, or fused for a genuine rush – and recommend based on how you’ll wear the suit. Whatever you choose is written on your quote, so you know exactly what you’re getting. If you’d like to understand the options first, read our guide to fabrics and construction.

Measurements

Often both sides of your body, separately. Posture, shoulder slope, how you stand and how you move. It takes longer than you’d expect, and that’s the point.

The fittings

Two, normally. The first is the garment in a state you probably won’t like as much – that’s when we find what needs correcting. The second is close to finished. If it isn’t right then, there’s a third, and we don’t charge you for it. The pattern is ours, so a correction is a correction rather than a negotiation.

Delivery and reordering

It goes home with you, or we ship it. Either way we keep your pattern – once we have it, you won’t need to be measured again unless your shape changes. Message us a cloth choice from anywhere and we’ll make it and post it. Many of our clients haven’t been to Thailand in over a decade.
